Oh the pundits do quoth and lash and foam in their righteousness and fury.

So, there was, like this election?  And it was kinda close in some places?  And a whole bunch of the fear-y tear-y crowd got together and let themselves get whipped up into a frenzy and went and voted ‘their conscience’.

At the end of the day I have a hard time believing it’s going to be all that awful.  I mean there’s a lot of BS going on down in DC.  The floor of the U.S. Congress should be a place of grave, but passionate, civil discourse.  It never was.  So, let’s not get our hopes up that the new crowd will ride into town and regulate.  It’s more likely they’ll all get hazed.  Let’s remember, they are freshman.

Despite the fact that I don’t think it’s all gloom and doom for the lefties in the hizzy, I found a lot of the election disappointing.  I was hoping that we could give, you know, ‘hope’ more of a chance. Yes, we can?  Well, I guess “Yes, we could’ve….  But I kinda flaked.”

Here, go forth and read:

Mark Morford – Letter to a whiny democrat

Of course, it’s not all the young dems and independents fault. There’s the new wing of Republicorp! The tea party! Of course, while they seem to think they are truly grassroots, they are really being run by a few with deep pockets. I know, it’s always fun to scapegoat big business. But I’m serious, I’m not being sarcastic or facetious either. There really is an elephant in the room and it really is running the show. It’s not like a secret cabal, replete with shadowy figures and cigar smoke. They’re just out to make a buck (or a billion bucks) and if we don’t keep a close eye on them, they’ll make their buck as best they can. Yay unrestrained capitalism! Here, see what I mean:

Tea partiers financed

I think we should start a group that gets their money. We can campaign for them. But we can do so like Stephen Colbert. I know it’s just copying a great idea from others, but there’s a kicker. We can get funded by the Kochs too! We just have to be more neoliberal and ultraconservative as the crazies in the “tea party”. Who’s with me?
